What do HIPAA and Windows XP mean for your medical office?
Submitted by Lance on Mon, 05/12/2014 - 10:38Microsoft phased out support for Windows XP during the first week of April 2014. Even though XP has been around for over 12 years, a high percentage of computers still run the operating system.
HIPAA requires a current and updated operating system, which is a standard Windows XP no longer meets. This requirement means that Windows XP computers can no longer be connected to your network and cannot hold any patient data.
